A lighter interlude....

On a lighter note, start looking for R2D2 mailboxes in your neighborhood! Check it out:

Isn't he cuuuute?!?! May the USPS be with you! Always!

Home run!

If I can find good housing, then I'm officially headed to location #2 -- Grand Junction, Colorado. They matched the first offer. The community is better. The job is a better advance for my career.

Hopefully, it'll be official soon and I can give notice to my boss here. Watch for the mushroom cloud...he's gonna freak. The entirety of our new system resides in my brain. I don't know who will receive the brain-dump, but they better brace themselves!

In Grand Junction, I'll be the coordinator of their program. That's a big step. I hope I keep hitting home runs all the way....

How do you hit two pitches at once?

(to continue the theme of America's pasttime....)

Last week about killed me. Interviews Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Then, hop a plane on Wednesday and have more interviews Thursday and Friday. It's hard to be "on" for four days! I'm exhausted!

Yesterday, I get an offer from the first set of interviews. Not bad, but I'd rather live in the second location. So, I call them and let them know an offer has been made. They're supposed to call with their offer by the end of the day. That's coming fairly soon.... I hate waiting! I was not built for patience!

So, stay tuned....

Strike One....

Long story short, I'm not moving to Louisiana.

I got the call yesterday. He wanted to let me know in person, instead of letting a form letter break the news. Get this -- they hired from within. They advertised nationally, brought in candidates at great expense, then hired someone who has been there 18 years. So, how committed are they to innovative change? Apparently, not much.

That's not me being bitter, though! That's from their own people, who told me they know the person being hired for the job and doubt she's has the stuff to handle the job. I feel bad for them, if that's true. They're good people and deserve better.

He did say that I was "very impressive" and "very competitve," and it was a hard decision. Sounded like I was the less economical choice, actually. He asked if I'd be open to "future opportunities" with them. I said sure, why not. I can always give them a listen.

So, I have interviews #2 and #3 next week. If it's meant to be, we'll find out. Otherwise, I'm not so miserable where I am.
